We have some exciting news. Dr McCurdy along with Dr. Ardolino at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are planning to undertake an exciting scientific research project that may have very direct and practical implications for the treatment of MM. The initial budget for the research is in the range of $20-30,000 and it is expected that the project will be completed within 6-8 months.
Myeloma Canada has very generously agreed to contribute its half of the funds raised through our 2020 Ottawa- Gatineau Myeloma Walk Steps to a Cure to support the project. It will mean that we need to raise close to 60,000$ with this year’s virtual Walk in order to support ongoing clinical trial data collection for myeloma patients at the Ottawa Hospital AND this new important initiative which should improve our understanding of how certain immunotherapy drugs function.
While fundraising is challenging in the current environment we have proven in the past that by all working together, we can do it. And it is for the benefit of us all!
Please join us on Tuesday August 25th at 7pm for a Zoom meeting with Dr. McCurdy. She will explain the project and its importance. Here is the information on how to join the meeting -you do not need to register for the meeting given the short notice:
